Orthopedic Inpatient Physical Rehabilitation Program

A joint replacement or serious joint injury can be devastating and disruptive. The Orthopaedic Rehabilitation program at Penn Rehab understands the unique challenges of bilateral hip or knee replacements and other orthopaedic issues. We provide you with an individualized treatment plan to help maximize your movement and independence.

Who can benefit from our inpatient Orthopaedic Rehabilitation program?

Patients who benefit from our joint replacement and orthopedic rehabilitation program may have significant loss of function to two or more extremities, suffered a major musculoskeletal trauma, undergone major joint replacement, and have an autoimmune or related systemic condition or other orthopaedic diagnoses.

Our patients are beginning to respond to their environments and are on the road to recovery from conditions such as:

  • Arthritis
  • Back and neck pain
  • Fractures
  • Rotator cuff injury
  • Sciatica
  • Strains and sprains
  • Total joint replacement
  • Traumatic injury

Patients admitted to our Joint Replacement and Orthopaedic Rehabilitation program work closely with a multidisciplinary rehabilitation team to become as mobile and independent as possible. Our care team helps you to take an active role in your treatment plan and partner with you to achieve recovery goals through every stage of rehabilitation.

In addition, the joint replacement/orthopaedic team of clinicians collaborates with your surgical teams and offers access to a range of medical specialists from Penn Medicine.
