Location: Stanley Bergen Building on the Newark Health Sciences Campus of Rutgers University. This is located at: 65 Bergen Street, Newark, NJ 07101

Course Overview: This one-day educational program is designed to provide didactic and faculty/clinician development related to supporting and enhancing health profession students identifying within the gender-expansive spectrum. Utilizing concepts of intersectionality, minority stress model, life course perspective, implicit bias, and educational research around student retention and student success, the participants will learn to broaden educational approaches to help improve gender-expansive student success in the classroom and clinic. From what little data we do have, we know that approximately 38% of transgender people on college campuses seriously consider leaving due to the challenging climate and lack of support (Rankin, 2010). Educators have an ethical responsibility to provide safe and supportive learning environments for all students to contribute to a learning space that maximizes success. The speaker has extensive experience working with gender-expansive college students and health profession students and promises to make this program well worth your time.
