The survey found no health citations or major life safety code deficiencies. The Pennsylvania Department of Health presented the Specialty Hospital with an “Above & Beyond Award for Excellence in Health Care Compliance” in recognition of the medical center’s 2012 state licensure survey.
The Specialty Hospital at Rittenhouse at 1800 Lombard St. in Philadelphia is a 38-bed, long-term, acute-care hospital designed for patients who no longer require inpatient services at a general acute-care hospital, but require more care than can be provided at a nursing home or other long-term-care facility.
Good Shepherd Penn Partners, which operates the hospital, is a joint venture formed in 2008 by Good Shepherd Rehabilitation Network in Allentown, Pa., and the University of Pennsylvania Health System in Philadelphia. It provides inpatient and outpatient physical rehabilitation and specialized long-term acute care throughout the Philadelphia region. In addition to the Specialty Hospital, Good Shepherd Penn Partners also manages the Penn Institute for Rehabilitation Medicine, a 58-bed inpatient rehabilitation hospital also at the Penn Medicine at Rittenhouse facility, and operates 10 Penn Therapy and Fitness outpatient rehabilitation locations in the area. It also provides therapy services within the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania, Pennsylvania Hospital and Penn Presbyterian Medical Center, and at Presbyterian’s three skilled-nursing facilities.
